SimAirport: Research for Bristol

In the third episode of my SimAirport series Building Bristol I add the first of many Remote Gates.

Before recording that episode I did a little more research to clarify how many gates and stands were in use at Bristol.

I found a few more photographs that helped show the arrangement of stands more definitively. In particular this one, that I used within the video, which appears to show all the stands in use though there may be a couple more spaces at the far right-hand :

Another couple of photos of the airport show the sheer scale of car parking usage - it is said that the airport company earns more from parking charges than air fees!

Bristol Airport Resources

For anyone interested in the operation of the real Bristol Airport, I'll keep this post updated to collate the various bits of information I use within this SimAirport series.

The main pages I used in planning the series include:
The Bristol Airport night flying policy is described in a PDF file.

Finding out, definitively, which airlines use Bristol Airport was harder than I expected but the following sites seemed to provide accurate and up-to-date information.
So I will be trying to use the following airlines in the game, where available, although I won't be too worried about having the correct aircraft or liveries ... it's only a game, after all. 😉
  • Aer Lingus
  • Aurigny
  • Balkan Holidays
  • Blue Islands
  • Brussels Airlines
  • Easyjet
  • Jet2 (flights scheduled to start in 2021)
  • KLM
  • Lauda Motion
  • LoganAir
  • Lufthansa  (may start in 2020?)
  • Ryanair
  • TUI
  • Wizz Air

* Updated 14 May 2020 to add Balkan Holidays to airline list

* Updated 13 Aug 2020 Have discovered that Lauda no longer use Bristol Airport!

* Updated 25 Aug 2020 A Blue Islands Airline mod is now available on Steam

* Updated 16 Feb 2021 Jet2 add Bristol to their schedule for 2021

Am I A 'YouTuber' Now?

So, this was a post I wrote back in October 2020 but, for some reason never quite finished or published it...🤔 The situation has escalated somewhat since then, in August 2023 my little hobby channel had acquired an astonishing 2,500 subscribers!  I wonder if my musings of three years ago are still valid (I have made some minor edits to the original draft for spelling and grammar) ... Well, it was just a little hobby, to share the fun I was having with my Sims 3 stories and now I've reached the first big 'proper YouTuber' milestone ... 1,000 subscribers!! In December 2015 I uploaded my first ever gameplay video, "Slade Dynasty Chronicles Intro : Sims 3 Lets Play" As ropey as it was, I think I was actually using just the microphone on my cheap-as-chips headset, I actually enjoyed the process of creating videos and the very kind Sims 3 community were encouraging in their support. I experimented with other games and types of video, trying to work out what I most...

The New Blog

Hi, while my YouTube channel is still quite small (less than 1,000 subscribers, etc.) I can't use the built-in YouTube features to actively engage with you, the lovely folk who watch, comment, and subscribe to my channel. As I am already sort of familiar with Blogger I though I would open up a new space here specifically linked to the YouTube channel but one that allows me to share stuff other than my game videos and can also be somewhere for all of us to exchange thoughts and ideas about the channel or anything else that pops into our minds. So ... if you're not into using Twitter or Instagram to communicate, or find them too limiting, or are strange enough to want to read more of my long-winded thoughts and observations then ... WELCOME! Now, if you're new to my channel or maybe just curious about who the heck I am please check out the links in the title bar which might give you some insight ... or might not. ;) You can use the Subscribe option in the title bar...
